Kimberly Souba is an elementary teacher, writer, poet, and author of From Death to New Life: The Transformation of a Soul. She has years of writing experience from being the student editor of her high school newspaper, a position she held for three years, and a staff writer for The Catholic Post, a Catholic newspaper for the Catholic Diocese of Peoria, IL.
Kimberly is a graduate of Illinois Central College in East Peoria, IL and Valley City State University in Valley City, ND. She is currently teaching fifth grade in a small farm community just northwest of where she grew up. She has also volunteered for the Peterstown and Northwest Teens Encounter Christ Programs in many capacities, including writing monthly newsletters for the teens and adults who are involved in those communities. Kimberly wrote a monthly newsletter for her friends, family, and the Religious Sisters of Mary of the Presentation while she was in formation with the Religious Community.
Kimberly has been writing poetry since she was in high school as a way to help herself deal with the pain she was feeling due to being abandoned by her parents. However, it wasn't until she was in her mid-twenties that she came to realize and admit that the pain she was feeling went much deeper.
As a survivor of childhood sexual assault, Kimberly has dedicated her life to constant healing - painful that it can be sometimes. It is only through her deep faith, the support, encouragement and unconditional love of friends and family, and her writing that she has been able to truly heal from the trauma she experienced.
Kimberly loves to enjoy life even in the most difficult of times and is trying very hard to live by her life's motto: Be the Butterfly God Created You to Be!
